  • Let's Break it Down

    Taking 6 weeks out of your life to share your business skills

    Our Immersion Programme, a 6-week structured group volunteer programme, is for skilled professionals who want to share their skills, meet a like-minded community, travel and have an adventure with a team of incredible individuals. We are looking for people with 3+ years professional experience and a 'can-do' attitude.

    Who you'll be working with

    Entrepreneurs who are tackling issues in their community include Social Entrepreneurs, purpose-driven Start-Ups, NGOs, funded and commercial Social Enterprises, social activists, non-profits, youth groups, women's groups & social purpose businesses. They might be pure start-ups, be in their first 1-3 years, looking to scale, or are 20 years into their impact work but are struggling to adapt in the new world. They all need support to be more financially sustainable and tell their impact stories.

    What you'll be doing

    We will match you with an organisation that requires your skills and experience to carry out a pre-determined consultancy project. You will work with your client to set objectives and complete the project over the agreed period.

  • What's Included

    Accommodation

    We like our group to stick together, as it adds to the collective experience.

    Staying in local accommodation that's safe and secure, you'll have space to relax at the end of a day of field work, workshops or excursions. Accommodation will either be in a shared house, apartments, homestays or guest houses and we guarantee fans and most mod-cons such as kitchen facilities. But whilst we won't chuck you all in a dorm, be prepared still for a bit of adventure! Living conditions can vary but we think the quirks are all part of the fun.

    Trips & Excursions

    It's not all hard work! We organise regular 'headspace' trips to give you some time to relax. It could be anything from: a visit to the beach or a temple, a meditation class, a trip to an interesting local cafe, a hike, cooking class, language lesson or a cultural event. We also arrange interesting talks and visits to see social entrepreneurs and other start-ups in the area.

    Training & Workshops

    We prepare you to become a Social Impact Consultant through our bespoke in-country training.

     

    Workshops include:

    Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship | Start-Up Methods | Consultancy Tools and Techniques | Cross Cultural Working

     

    You also receive your own copy of the _SocialStarters Start-Up Manual.

    Knowledge Sharing

    Do you have experience and knowledge that you can share? Each week volunteers put themselves forward to run workshops for the rest of the group. You can create a 2-3 hour workshop or deliver one created by past volunteers.

    Discovering your 'what next'

    Every other week you can opt in for a one hour one on one session with your Programme Manager. During these sessions you will be taken through a series of coaching tools to help you to reflect on the experience, your personal goals and want you want to achieve following the programme. Supporting this will be 3 additional workshops covering things like:

  • Application Process

    1. You decide where you want to go and apply for one of our group Programmes. All require is a bit of information, a 250 word cover letter and your updated CV.
    2. We arrange a 30min call for you with one of our team, to get to know you better and find out your motivations for joining the programme.
    3. Following the call will will let you know if you have been successful in getting on to the programme of your choice, and if you haven't we'll let you know if there's a more suitable option for you with _SocialStarters.
    4. You then secure your place via payment of the full fee or if you are booking well ahead of the programme start date, you can secure it via a non-refundable deposit of £400.00.
    5. We send out our Welcome Email, which includes your useful pre-programme Welcome Guide  PDF with information about visas & kit list. And we invite you to submit some required documents.
    6. You book your flights, visas and settle your fee balance if you have one, at least 6 weeks before the programme start date.
